Brasília relocation guide

Days out in Brasília

Two green outings, with different rules and costs.

The short answer

Jardim Botânico de Brasília and Brasília National Park make two distinct outdoor options. The botanical garden has free Sunday and holiday entry under its own program. The federal national park publishes separate admission charges, pool schedules and closure exceptions. Choose the venue around the group's needs, then check the current operating notice. Their names and green setting do not make their access, pet or assistance rules interchangeable.

  • JBB's ordinary admission is US$1.00 (BRL 5) per person, with its published exemptions and free visiting periods.
  • The national park publishes US$8.02 (BRL 40) general entry, with a separate US$4.01 (BRL 20) qualifying resident rate.
  • Book the national park's Juliettichair with the required companions before relying on that access arrangement.

Use JBB's visitor area

JBB's Lago Sul entrance is reached by EPCV, DF 035, near QI 23 in the SMDB area. Its current visitor pages were updated September 11, 2026. Picnics belong in designated areas. The ecological station beyond the public visitor area is not open for unrestricted wandering.1,3,4

Ordinary pets are prohibited, with a specific exception for working guide dogs. Bicycle access also depends on the trail. Check the chosen route rather than assuming every path accepts every activity.1

Check the national park schedule and route

The national park lists closures on Good Friday, Finados, Christmas, January 1 and election dates. December 24 and 31 have a shorter entry window ending at 1 p.m. Its alternating pool schedule runs Tuesday through Sunday, with pool use ending at 4:30 p.m. Do not plan Monday around a promised pool opening.2

The 1.3 km Capivara trail has Thursday maintenance closure and scheduled guided periods. Other trails have different lengths and last-entry limits. Use the park's current route instructions and stay on marked paths. It says no on-site rescue service is available.2

The published monthly pass is US$40 (BRL 200). It is a separate product from a single entry. Use proof for any claimed resident category, and ask about the exact current admission arrangement.2

Arrange the chair and companions

For the Julietti chair, the park requires two suitable companions supplied by the visitor. Its Arco Brasília route requires four. Staff do not serve as carriers. Ask about availability and the actual route before booking through visitacao.pnb@icmbio.gov.br.2

The chair arrangement does not establish the journey from your home, vehicle or stop. Read the family checks, the mobility planning and the animal rules for those separate decisions.

Questions people ask

Is Jardim Botânico free on Sunday?

Its published rules say Sundays and holidays are free. Regular paid admission is US$1.00 (BRL 5) per person, with other exemptions and a free early window for pedestrians and cyclists.

Does that free Sunday also cover Brasília National Park?

No. The national park has separate published charges, including US$8.02 (BRL 40) general admission and US$4.01 (BRL 20) for qualifying DF or defined surrounding-area residents with proof.

Can I rely on a national park pool on Monday?

No. The published alternating pool schedule runs Tuesday through Sunday. Check the current notice before traveling, including holiday closure exceptions.

Will park staff carry the Julietti chair?

The park says staff do not serve as carriers. The visitor must provide two suitable companions, or four for Arco Brasília, and arrange the chair in advance.
