Brasília relocation guide
Retiring in Brasília
Choose continuity of care and daily access before the view.

The short answer
Retirement planning in Brasília starts with the care and daily journeys you will repeat. Asa Sul has public and private hospital leads, while HRAN publishes general medicine emergency care in Asa Norte. Apartment elevators and park equipment can help, but they do not establish the complete route from your front door. Inspect the home, organize continuing treatment and price the actual household separately from the national residence threshold.
- Ask the insurer to confirm the exact hospital and treatment under your plan.
- Inspect the full street, entrance, elevator and bathroom route in the actual home.
- The national pension route's US$2,000 monthly-transfer requirement is an eligibility rule, rather than a Brasília budget.
Organize continuing care first
Hospital Santa Lúcia Sul lists adult and pediatric emergency, outpatient and intensive care services at SHLS 716 Conjunto C, Asa Sul. Its published contact is +55 61 3445 0000, with cac.hsl@gruposanta.com.br. Ask about your exact service and policy.7,
HRAN explicitly lists general medicine in its 24-hour emergency service. Hospital de Base's page instead contains a conflict about that specialty. Use the care guide to keep those leads and the primary care route clear.1,
Inspect the complete home route
| Home | Published layout | Inspection question |
|---|---|---|
| Sudoeste DAL255 | About 30 m² furnished, one bedroom and one parking space. | Can you reach the apartment and use its bathroom comfortably? |
| Asa Sul CO10490 | Furnished 140 m², three bedrooms and two covered parking spaces. | Does the complete entrance and elevator route work for you? |
| Águas Claras CO10385 | Three suites, four bathrooms and two parking spaces. | Do the apartment layout and repeated care journey fit your needs? |
HRAN's current charter lists sidewalk ramps and internal elevators in all blocks. That describes the hospital's published facilities. It does not certify the route from a particular home or guarantee every elevator is operating.2,
Arrange assistance for a park visit
Brasília National Park's Julietti chair requires two suitable companions provided by the visitor. Arco Brasília requires four. Staff do not carry the chair. Advance reservation is available. Arrange the visit beforehand through visitacao.pnb@icmbio.gov.br to check the actual route and availability.6
Jardim Botânico and the national park both publish age-based admission exemptions, but use wording for people older than 60. Confirm the exact category and evidence instead of assuming that every 60-year-old qualifies.6,
Read the pension rule separately from the budget
CNIg Resolution 40/2019 covers qualifying retirement or survivor-pension residence. Articles 1 to 3 require evidence of at least US$2,000 transferred monthly to Brazil, with other regular income able to supplement the required amount. Brazil-valid health insurance is part of the requirements.17
The initial residence can be up to two years. The rule does not promise approval or establish what your Brasília household will cost. Compare the actual home, care and travel in the cost guide, then arrange the status-specific documents with the authority.17
Questions people ask
Is US$2,000 the recommended retirement budget?
No. It is the national pension residence route's monthly-transfer requirement. Your home, treatment, coverage and daily travel need their own budget.
Does a listed elevator settle accessibility?
No. Inspect the complete route from the street or parking space, the entrance, elevator, apartment doors and bathroom. A feature list cannot establish whether it works for you.
Can I use the national park chair alone?
The published Julietti chair arrangement requires two suitable companions supplied by the visitor, or four for Arco Brasília. Staff do not carry it. Arrange the actual visit in advance.
What should I confirm before choosing private hospital care?
Ask the insurer and hospital for the exact unit, specialty, procedure, authorization and waiting-period conditions under your policy. A hospital listing alone does not establish coverage.
