Campinas relocation guide

Public schools in Campinas

Keep the age groups and application windows separate. An early childhood deadline is not the general school-transfer rule.

The short answer

Campinas publishes separate routes for elementary school requests, in-year changes and early childhood applications. Elementary enrollment covers municipal and state schools and depends on the relevant place. The current 2027 early childhood notice has its own deadline, results date and enrollment start. Match the process to your child's age and situation, then confirm documents and the actual offer with education staff.

  • Elementary. Grades 1 to 9 use municipal or state school placement routes.
  • 2027 early childhood. Pre-registration closes November 3, 2026 at 5 p.m.
  • Education contact. The municipality publishes +55 19 2515 7100.

Which enrollment process applies?

Elementary and in-year requests

The elementary service covers grades 1 to 9 through municipal and state schools. It directs families to a nearby public school or the state SED system. Placement depends on the relevant catchment, school type and vacancy. The service is free.2,3

A March 4, 2026 notice covers late requests for children without a public-school place or families whose address changed. Transfer intent can name up to three schools through the requested school or SED. Ask staff which route applies before canceling an existing place.2,3

Children still waitlisted for 2026 need a 2027 request. Already enrolled children have automatic renewal under the notice. These rules describe that early childhood campaign, rather than every in-year or elementary case.1

Confirm the school before the lease

Contact SME on +55 19 2515 7100 or sme.gabinete@educa.campinas.sp.gov.br. Ask for the document checklist, assigned place and next action for your child. Compare EAC admissions separately, and test the journey before choosing a home area. See the family planning sequence.1,2,3
