Which migration registration deadline applies?

The Federal Police service gives temporary visa holders 90 days after entry to register. This deadline does not apply to every visitor.¹

The Federal Police service gives holders of an approved residence authorization 30 days after its publication in the official gazette to register.¹

Follow the Federal Police document link for your registration modality. Preserve the entry record or official publication that starts your deadline. Appointment availability and a personal completion date have not been verified.

Prepare a separate CPF file

The CPF service accepts Brazilian and foreign individuals, resident and nonresident. Its published route does not require an intermediary.²

The service requests official photo identification. If birthplace, parentage or birth date is missing, it also requests a birth or marriage certificate or foreign equivalent. Staff can request additional documents.²

Receita Federal FAQ question 4 accepts passports for foreigners resident abroad or in transit. Its Brazil-resident list includes CRNM, specified protocols and other listed documents. Do not apply one identity list to every applicant.³

Keep individual fees separate from the full cost

The Federal Police service lists about US$41 (BRL 204.77) for CRNM issuance under STN 140120. This does not establish the full cost of every visa or residence procedure.^1,4

CPF registration is free through the described official routes. The published partner-unit fee is about US$1.40 (BRL 7.00). The service says an intermediary is unnecessary.^2,4

Dollar equivalents use the October 8, 2026 PTAX selling quote of BRL 5.01190 per US dollar. They do not promise a payment provider's rate.⁴

Match the digital nomad documents to the route

CNIg Normative Resolution 45 of September 9, 2021 covers remote work for a foreign employer. Work for an employer in Brazil is excluded. Visitor rules still depend on nationality and allowed stay.⁵

The means test accepts foreign-source monthly income of at least US$1,500 or bank funds of at least US$18,000. Evidence of the foreign work relationship is also required.⁵

An in-country residence grant lasts up to one year. Renewal for an equal period requires the specified updated documents and migration registration card. Renewal is not automatic.⁵

CNIg Resolution 45 Article 3 requires health insurance valid in Brazil for the consular visa route. Article 4 has a separate in-country document list and does not repeat that requirement.⁵
