Aracaju relocation guide

Healthcare in Aracaju

Separate the nearby primary-care unit from urgent care and private-plan coverage.

On this page

The short answer

Aracaju publishes local primary-care addresses and opening windows, alongside municipal services described as operating 24 hours. Use those as contact leads rather than a promise of the appointment you need. The USF workbook does not name weekdays, and your assigned unit or referral route needs confirmation. If you rely on private care, check the specific provider, specialty and plan before choosing a home around that arrangement.

  • The published USF table gives opening windows without weekdays.
  • The health portal lists distinct 24-hour municipal services.
  • A private plan's network matters as much as its price.

Distinguish the municipal services

The health transparency portal lists Hospital Municipal Desembargador Fernando Franco in Zona Sul, Hospital Municipal Dr Nestor Piva in Zona Norte, and Maternidade Municipal Lourdes Nogueira as 24-hour services. The list does not establish live staffing, waiting times or the specialist service you need.1

For administrative help, the Municipal Health Secretariat is at Rua Nely Correia de Andrade 50, Coroa do Meio. Reception is (79) 3711-5000, and ouvidoria is (79) 3711-5011. Published office hours are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. SAMU's emergency number is 192.3,7

Understand the primary-care access rule

Ministry of Health Note 8/2024 says missing identity documents, CPF, SUS card, proof of residence or immigration status are not grounds to deny migrant primary care. This is national primary-care guidance. It does not promise immediate specialist treatment or English-speaking staff.6

Bring the documents and medication information you have, and ask the unit how it handles your next appointment. The moving checklist joins this with the document steps. The family guide covers school and care planning together.

Check the plan against the actual care

ANS publishes waiting-period maxima for applicable new or adapted plans. They include 24 hours for urgent or emergency care, 180 days for other covered care and 300 days for term birth, with exceptions. Coverage still depends on the plan's terms and segmentation.4,5

Ask the insurer and provider about the exact specialty, maternity needs, existing conditions, hospital and appointment route. Keep a written answer. Use retirement planning or the budget guide to place the actual quote in your plan.

Test the care journey

Check the journey from the actual home in both directions. A nearby named unit can still have a different catchment or booking route. Compare housing areas and transport after you know which service can see you.2

Questions people ask

Can I assume the listed USF is open Monday through Friday?

The original workbook gives a time window but no weekdays. Confirm the day and appointment process directly instead of adding a schedule the source does not state.

Which municipal services are listed as 24-hour?

The current portal lists Fernando Franco, Nestor Piva and Maternidade Municipal Lourdes Nogueira. Confirm the required capability and current arrangements with the service.

Does missing a CPF prevent migrant primary care?

National Ministry of Health guidance says missing CPF and other listed documents are not grounds to deny migrant primary care. It does not create a private-insurance entitlement.

Will a new private plan cover every appointment immediately?

No. Waiting periods, contract segmentation, network and prior-condition rules can matter. Confirm the exact care and provider before relying on the policy.
