Getting around Aracaju
Check the route and boarding point for the day you will actually travel.

The short answer
Aracaju's published passenger fare gives you a useful transport reference, but the journey still needs an exact route check. SMTT provides an itinerary and timetable service. AracajuCard offers two prepaid-card types with different first-load rules. Terminal do Mercado also has a dated platform change. Test the trip from the actual home, including the return, before using the journey to choose a lease or school.
- The 2026 passenger fare is distinct from the technical fare.
- Unidentified and nominal prepaid cards have different requirements.
- Mercado terminal changes begin October 12, 2026.
Pay the passenger fare
SMTT's March 4, 2026 notice states a passenger fare of US$0.90 (BRL 4.50). It separately gives a technical fare of US$1.40 (BRL 7). That technical amount is not the ordinary passenger charge. The notice cites a subsidy period ending December 31, 2026, so recheck the fare for later travel.4,
The official SMTT itinerary and timetable service is the starting point for the exact line, direction and day. Its published contacts include (79) 3179-1406 and (79) 3179-1416. An interface does not establish the duration of your school or work journey.3
Choose the right prepaid card
| Card | Published first step | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Pré-Pago Avulso | No preregistration; minimum first load US$0.90BRL 4.50 | Unidentified card; keep its number |
| Pré-Pago Nominal | Online VTWeb request; CPF-linked; minimum 10 current fares | Published preparation up to 2 business days after payment |
AracajuCard lists terminal agents, CEAC Rua do Turista, CEAC Rodoviária Nova, CEAC Parque Shopping and PIU points for the unidentified card. The initial load is usable credit. It is not described as a separate purchase fee.5
The FAQ lists refill options through Rua do Turista CEAC during business days 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., terminal agents, PIU, RecargaPay and Val. It says PIU and Val may charge a refill fee, without a retained amount.1,
Resolve the payment contact before sending money
AracajuCard's prepaid page and FAQ publish different WhatsApp numbers for Val. Use the official portal or faleconosco@aracajucard.com.br to confirm the current payment route. Do not choose a number by guessing which digit is wrong.1,
The FAQ says an unidentified card can be blocked after loss if you have its number. It gives up to 48 business hours for complete blocking after notification. Photograph the card number and contact the operator promptly if it is lost.1,
Mercado terminal has a dated change
SMTT says changes start Monday, October 12, 2026. Lines 007, 008, 701 and 702 move to platforms 22, 4, 2 and 2 respectively. The works proceed in stages, and further platform changes may follow. Check the notice and signs for the date you travel.2
Use the tested journey to compare housing areas and the actual school campus. The family guide and moving checklist place transport alongside the other commitments. See days out for leisure destinations.
Questions people ask
What is the published 2026 passenger fare?

Which Val WhatsApp number should I use?
The prepaid page and FAQ disagree. Confirm through the official operator portal or email before sending a payment instead of selecting one by inference.
Are the Mercado platform changes permanent?
The October 12, 2026 notice describes staged works and says further changes may be needed. Check the current line, direction and boarding signs for your travel day.
