The municipality's 2026 waiting-list notice gives a route for families outside the main application stages. Maple Bear's local pages give a separate early-years and Year 1 lead. Ask for the actual school, stage, shift, support and cost. A published process or prospectus does not secure a place.^1,2,3

Try drop-off, pickup and the route home in the conditions your family will face. Ask about the accepted foreign records, meals, transport and who can collect the child. Read schools before making a lease depend on an assumed allocation.^4,5

Inspect the family home as a working home

The selected Peró house has three bedrooms and a furnishing listed in its features. The Braga apartment has two bedrooms and an elevator. Centro AP1506 has two bedrooms plus an office and shared amenities. These details help a shortlist, but you still need the actual inventory, window and balcony checks, room noise and shared-facility rules.^6,7,8

All three selected offers say pets are accepted. Confirm the specific animal, condominium rules and cleaning or damage terms. Keep utility setup, internet installation and an unpriced entry guarantee outside the monthly package until quoted.^6,7,8,9,10

Keep two care routes ready

Ask the local primary-care unit about registration, vaccination records, routine appointments and continuing treatment. Keep a separate urgent-care destination and exact entrance for the district. Tamoios's Unamar UBS and Samburá UPA II are distinct from central Cabo Frio's care entries.^11,12,13,14

SUS access applies regardless of nationality or migration status. Actual appointment, medicine and language arrangements still need direct confirmation. Keep the child's treatment summary and prescriptions ready to share.^15,16

Add activities after the routine is secure

A July 29, 2026 municipal notice advertises free jiu-jitsu from age 7 Monday through Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m., and taekwondo from age 12 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4 to 6 p.m. Registration is at Rua Governador Valadares 326, São Cristóvão, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with identification and a medical certificate. Confirm current places and conditions.¹⁷

Use the MART museum as a separate free indoor option. For the coast, the tourism manual warns about Peró's more agitated water and Foguete's cold, deep water and strong waves. Choose the day's conditions and lifeguard guidance, rather than treating any beach description as a swimming guarantee.^18,19
