Start with SEMED and the actual stage

The Education Secretariat publishes Avenida José Bento Ribeiro Dantas 296, Rasa, beside Social Development, +55 22 2350 6072 and +55 22 99862 1812. Citizen hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ask for enrollment coordination and explain the child's age, previous grade, expected arrival and documents.¹

Portaria 9 of October 1, 2025 governs the 2026 municipal process. Article 9's main registration ran November 24 to December 19, 2025; January 26 to 30, 2026 was the confirmation period. Article 11, paragraph 3 directs people who missed the listed stages to SEMED enrollment coordination from February 16, 2026. Ask how that route operates for your arrival.²

Prepare the real document question

Article 15 lists birth or marriage record, current address proof, previous school record or transfer protocol except for early childhood, guardian and student identification, vaccination record and other age-specific items. SUS and NIS numbers are requested if held. Transfer protocols older than 30 days are not accepted under paragraph 1.²

Article 15, paragraph 2 allows exceptional enrollment with incomplete documents through a signed responsibility declaration; Article 20 assigns omitted cases to SEMED. Ask how the office applies those provisions to foreign records, translations, identification and any missing document. The rule does not publish a blanket foreign-document exemption. Annex II gives seven consecutive days for its listed documents and 45 consecutive days for school history. Ask SEMED which deadlines and foreign equivalents apply to the actual signed declaration.^2,3

Use the separate creche instructions

The May 6, 2026 sheet says online creche registration remains permanently open. Follow Diário Oficial publications to identify an allocated place. Legal guardians then have five days from publication to complete enrollment; missing that stage loses the allocation and requires a new application.⁴

Its list includes a recent photo, guardian identification and CPF, birth record, municipal health record, address proof, vaccination record, SUS card and a medical report for a child with a disability. Bolsa Família proof applies if held. Without an address bill in the guardian's name, it accepts a lease or owner declaration with a copy of the supporting bill. Ask which foreign equivalents the office accepts.⁴

The sheet prioritizes disability supported by a medical report and social-vulnerability cases assessed through social reports. Registration does not establish immediate placement, a chosen unit or a preferred shift.^1,4

Verify the school and everyday arrangements

The municipal directory names Geribá's E.M. Ver. Antônio Alípio da Silva for the first fundamental segment, Rasa's E.M. Manoel Antônio da Costa for the first segment and E.M. Profª Ciléa Maria Barreto for the second. Confirm the actual grade offering, address, shift and place with SEMED. The directory does not verify an English-medium curriculum.¹

School transport registration for eligible network students is handled at the actual school. Ask eligibility, pickup, timing and return rather than treating the home's distance as automatic approval.
