Neither announcement establishes that every specialist, medicine or test is available locally. If you need continuing treatment, arrange it with the actual service before choosing a home or moving date.

The ministry's March 20, 2026 report identifies Hospital Salvador Mazza in Tilcara and Hospital Miguel Ángel Miskoff in Maimará as separate hospitals. Services described for Maimará should not be assumed available in Tilcara. Ask the Tilcara service which specialist or test can be arranged there and where it sends referrals that need another facility. Include the return journey in your care plan.3
Who can face public-hospital charges
In Jujuy, Law 6415 regulates Law 6116. Article 1 establishes provincial public-hospital and health-center charges for foreign residents in transitory and precario categories under Argentina's immigration law. Article 3 requires locally valid health insurance or self-payment for care outside the emergency rule. These provisions do not justify saying that every foreign resident faces the same charge. Ask about your exact category and the treatment.1
What the emergency rule says
Article 2 says that care in a medical emergency involving a risk to life must be guaranteed without making it conditional on prior payment. The law allows the province to recover the cost afterward. Do not delay urgent care while trying to resolve a bill. For planned treatment, ask for the applicable tariff and insurer authorization in advance.1
Prepare your records and contact details
The electronic-record announcement asks patients for DNI, insurance information, email and a phone number. If you have a foreign passport instead, ask the hospital how it registers you. Bring your diagnosis, current medicines and recent results in a form the treating team can use. Confirm how you receive results and share them with another service. An electronic record does not guarantee that an external doctor can access it.4
Discuss altitude before travel
The town's average altitude is about 2,465 meters. UK travel health advice identifies altitude illness as a risk in parts of Argentina. Discuss your medical history and intended higher-altitude outings with a clinician before travel. The guide does not establish individual fitness for altitude or the suitability of a particular treatment plan.2,
