The short answer

Mendoza has useful local price benchmarks, but a complete newcomer budget still needs personal quotes. Our one-person priced subtotal is US$466 to US$689 (ARS 706,200 to 1,044,400) a month for rent, groceries and adult public transport. It excludes building fees, utilities, connectivity, health coverage and leisure. Rent comes from Capital asking averages. Food uses a July 2026 Greater Mendoza minimum basket with a disclosed allowance.

  • The one-person priced subtotal covers three categories.
  • August Capital studio asking mean is US$288 (ARS 436,957).
  • A general bus or tram trip is US$1.11 (ARS 1,680).
  • Six quote categories remain outside the subtotal.

This is an editorial planning model. August 2026 Capital asking-rent means receive a 20 percent buffer. Food uses 1.5 to 2 times the July 2026 Greater Mendoza minimum basket. General-fare travel uses 40 to 80 trips per adult. These assumptions are not a measured household cost distribution. The tool shows unpriced categories and cannot certify that a complete budget fits. Deposits, arrival costs, taxes and savings are separate. Converted at 1,515.50 pesos per US dollar, the BCRA USD reference quotation, October 8, 2026 (opens in a new tab) rate for October 8, 2026.

Carry this subtotal to My Area

Unpriced items remain excluded. Add their quotes when you review the amounts in My Area.

Choose the correct household before comparing the result with your income. The family food model represents the DEIE example of two adults and two children. It does not estimate every family size, diet or childcare arrangement.

The model rounds its scenario inputs to the nearest ARS 1,000. The transit line keeps the actual fare multiplication. Read the Rent and Utilities pages before adding a property to your shortlist.

Why is the food basket not a shopping quote?

DEIE reports a July minimum food basket of US$127 (ARS 192,902) per adult equivalent. The family example is US$393 (ARS 596,066). The region is Gran Mendoza, which extends beyond Capital.2

The report selects minimum product prices. Our higher grocery allowance is a planning choice for a different household routine. Save actual receipts during a trial stay and replace the allowance with your shopping costs.

Use Healthcare to distinguish provincial treatment rules from a private insurance quotation. Use Schools for named campuses. Neither a hospital directory nor a school brochure establishes your household price.

Monthly costs and arrival costs belong in separate plans

A deposit may be recoverable while a guarantee fee may not be. A flight, temporary stay and household setup also change the cash needed before your first full month. Keep these outside the monthly spending total.

The Arrival costs page gives a quote worksheet. The Rental procedures page explains contract terms, guarantees and documents. Both should be completed before converting a dollar budget into a peso commitment.

Questions people ask

Is Mendoza cheap to live in?

Capital asking rents can be a useful starting point, but rent alone cannot answer that question. Our priced subtotal excludes several essential categories. Obtain individual quotes before deciding that Mendoza fits your income.

What does your one-person Mendoza budget include?

It includes a studio rent scenario, a grocery allowance and 40 to 80 adult public transport trips. Building fees, utilities, connectivity, health coverage and leisure are unpriced.

Are the food figures for Mendoza city only?

No. DEIE reports Greater Mendoza. We identify that regional scope and use a disclosed allowance rather than calling it a measured Capital newcomer shopping bill.

Why does the model offer only one area?

No comparable section-level asking-rent series was verified. Capital benchmarks are more honest than invented cheap, middle and expensive neighborhood tiers.

Does the total basic basket include rent?

It includes nonfood needs through its methodology. We do not add its entire total to a rent quotation. The model uses the food basket only.

Does a studio asking average include furniture?

The published category mean does not establish the inclusions for a particular listing. Request the furniture inventory, utility terms and current building statement.

Do you include private school tuition?

No. We leave child and school costs visible as a quote requirement for the family profile. Ask the named campus for every recurring and initial charge.

Which exchange rate converts these prices?

The dataset uses ARS 1,515.50 per US dollar from BCRA on October 8, 2026. It is a normalization reference, not a promise of the rate or fees available to you.

Are move-in deposits a monthly expense?

They belong in a separate arrival cash plan. Record their currency and return conditions. A deposit and a nonrefundable fee have different financial effects.
