The short answer

Start with a coastal walk around the Rambla, La Perla or Playa Grande. Villa Victoria and the Castagnino museum add historic-house visits, while Scaglia focuses on natural history. For a different day, municipal tourism describes Laguna and Sierra de los Padres inland. Check each venue's opening and the outward and return travel before making a special trip.

  • Castagnino occupies Villa Ortiz Basualdo, dated 1909 in the municipal museum description.
  • Villa Victoria was Victoria Ocampo's summer house, dated 1912 in that description.
  • Scaglia covers natural history, including paleontology and geology.
  • The inland district destinations require a separate journey from the central coast.

Historic houses and natural history

The municipal museum description places the Castagnino art museum in Villa Ortiz Basualdo, a 1909 house. Villa Victoria is described as Victoria Ocampo's 1912 English-style summer house. Roberto Barili occupies a 1930 Spanish-style house and covers local history.3

Scaglia's permanent natural-history description includes paleontology, geology, birds, mammals, insects and an aquarium. Ask about current exhibitions, ticket categories, opening and access. No current admission price is quoted here.3

Venue-specific planning

The January 2026 guide describes Scaglia's level entrance and elevator. Villa Victoria has a ground-floor route, gravel outside and stairs to the upper floor. Ask about the exact visit before relying on equipment or access.2

Laguna and Sierra de los Padres belong to the wider General Pueyrredon outing itinerary. The Line 717 fare annex describes specific suburban sections, which should not be replaced with the flat urban price. Confirm the stop, destination and current return service.1,4

Questions people ask

Which museum focuses on natural history?

The municipal description identifies Scaglia, with paleontology, geology and other natural-history exhibits. Ask the museum about the current program and opening.

No. Villa Victoria is the Victoria Ocampo cultural center. Castagnino occupies Villa Ortiz Basualdo. Confirm the address and actual visit separately.

Are Laguna and Sierra de los Padres in the central city?

They are inland destinations in the wider district itinerary. Plan a separate trip and do not assume a central city journey or flat fare.

How much are museum tickets?

A current ticket price is not confirmed by these descriptions. Ask the actual museum about its present tariff, categories, proof and payment method.

Check the weather, actual destination, transport and return journey. Laguna and Sierra de los Padres are separate trips from the central coast.
