Getting around Las Grutas

TLG links Las Grutas with San Antonio Oeste and Puerto del Este. Hospital stops have a separate weekday announcement, while frequent late service is seasonal.

The short answer

Transporte Las Grutas publishes an urban connection between Las Grutas and San Antonio Oeste, with service to Puerto del Este also described. Its TLG card has local purchase and recharge points. The operator's half-hourly service until 4 a.m. is explicitly high-season information. Ask for the current October timetable, fare and route variant before planning a daily journey.

  • Use the personal TLG card procedures, not an assumed SUBE fare.
  • Local card points include the Las Grutas terminal, Box 1, and El Abasto at General Roca 694.
  • Six weekday hospital stops were announced from May 26, 2026.
  • A route's published circuit distance is not a one-way distance between towns.

TLG publishes customer service on 0810 333 5697 and info@lasgrutasbus.com.ar. Its card is personal. The operator describes balance recovery after a lost card using DNI and a replacement card. Ask what identification it accepts in your circumstances.1,4

Weekday hospital variant

Río Negro Transport announced hospital stops from May 26, 2026 at 8.20, 9.20, 10.20, 11.20 a.m., 12.20 and 1.20 p.m., Monday to Friday. The notice describes a route along Pilcaniyeu, the hospital frontage on Buyayinski and the southern access to Provincial Route 2. Check whether it still runs before an appointment.3

The operator describes student and disability concessions with documents. Student procedures require a regular enrollment certificate and DNI. If the DNI shows another locality, TLG also requires a police declaration of the current address. Disability travel uses CUD and DNI, with a companion only when the CUD specifies one. Ask which documents apply before relying on a concession.1

Driving and road access

Municipal access information identifies National Route 3, Provincial Route 251 and Provincial Route 2 among the approaches, depending on the direction of travel. Check the current road and weather conditions for your route.6

National visitor guidance gives international permits under the Inter-American Convention one year from issuance. National licenses from Geneva or Vienna contracting states have a maximum of one year from entry. Check the document, nationality and visitor-status requirements, then confirm local and rental-company acceptance. Residents must check licensing separately.2

Questions people ask

Can I recharge the TLG card in Las Grutas?

The operator lists several points, including Terminal Box 1 and El Abasto at General Roca 694. Confirm current hours and the card price.

Does a bus run every half hour all year?

The operator labels that frequency and late-night service as high season. Ask for the current timetable for your travel date.

What is the current local fare?

It remains unconfirmed. Ask TLG for the fare, card price and any concession that applies to your actual journey.

Can I rely on the hospital bus for a weekend appointment?

The May 2026 announcement specifies Monday to Friday. It does not confirm weekend hospital stops. Ask the operator about your date and return trip.

Can I keep driving on visitor documents after becoming resident?

Do not assume that. The cited national guidance concerns qualifying visitors. Ask the responsible licensing authority what a resident must hold.
