The short answer

Atibaia's Bilhete Único can make a journey with transfers simpler, but the published rule requires the accepted SOU card. It allows up to three complementary boardings within ninety minutes and excludes cash integration. Start with the real home, school or care destination and return. Check the current timetable and fare with SOU before making that trip part of the longer housing decision.

  • Integration requires the accepted SOU card.
  • The published limit is three complementary boardings in ninety minutes.
  • Cash payment does not receive integration.
  • Check the actual day, stop and final return.

Our take

Check the published fare and current journey

SOU's Atibaia page displays a public fare of US$0.92 (R$4.60). Its historical table lists the same amount from 2019 through 2023, without a new 2026 tariff date. Confirm the current fare and accepted payment for your journey before traveling. Municipal and onward regional trips need separate quotes.1,2

The municipal FAQ links SOU for routes and timetables and gives 0800 460 0800. The operator's timetable page embeds a separate timetable service. Use the actual origin, destination and travel day; this guide does not reproduce an unverified route frequency or last departure.3,4

Understand the card conditions

The municipal explanation says the SOU card must have enough balance for one fare. Up to three complementary boardings can form the journey to the final destination within ninety minutes of the first validation. The card integrates one user. Check the required interchange and accepted line combination before the trip.5

The published exclusions include cash payment, exceeding ninety minutes, returning to the starting area, using a non-complementary line or more than three boardings. A return trip is not free merely because it falls within the time window.5

Arrange the actual card and required support

The November 2023 explanation directs first-card applicants to the bus station at Praça Pedro de Toledo, no street number, Centro, with photo identity and residence proof. It says the first issue is free and a replacement is charged without stating the amount. Confirm the present issuing point, foreign identity and any charge with SOU.5

For school transport or disability-related travel support, use the municipal application route and actual eligibility assessment. The FAQ gives separate requirements. A school place or disability description in a household plan does not itself establish an accepted bus benefit.3

Complete a useful transport trial

Try the school or appointment journey at the hours you will use it. Check the walk to the stop, crossings, boarding access, waiting place and return. Keep a realistic alternative when the household needs to travel after the service you have confirmed.4,6,7

For Pedra Grande, arrange transport separately. The municipal FAQ says the tourism department does not supply visitor transport or guiding. Confirm the actual approach, conditions and return with the provider you choose. Read weekends, safety and locations alongside the trip.3,8
