Keep the national processes distinct

Receita Federal's CPF service covers Brazilian and foreign applicants, resident and nonresident. Follow the official identity and supporting-document requirements. A CPF is a registration number, not residence permission.16

For qualifying remote work, CNIg Resolution 45 of 2021 distinguishes foreign-employer activity and sets the relevant visa or residence process. Other circumstances may use another route. Confirm the category before treating an extended rental as permission to remain.6

The Federal Police service distinguishes registration deadlines. Temporary-visa holders have 90 days after entry, while an approved residence authorization generally has 30 days after official publication. Follow the service for your category, documents and appointment jurisdiction rather than assuming one deadline applies to everyone.7

Before and after accepting the keys

Read the signed home agreement and inventory, then record meter readings, account identifiers, appliance condition and accepted repairs. Confirm who changes each account and when the household takes responsibility. Save the payment receipts and a complete copy of the contract.1,12,14,15

Keep the school, care, transport and owner contacts with the exact address. Save 190 for police and 192 for an ambulance. Review the plan after the first working week and settle any failed arrangement before extending the stay.2,9,17,18

Is there one Federal Police registration deadline?

What should I save at handover?
