The short answer

San Martín de los Andes publishes bus fares through municipal decrees and lists transport contacts through its tourism office. The April 2026 bus table names Expreso Colonia. Ordinance 15,780/2026 sets taxi and remis meter charges from October 9. Check the current bus timetable and the full cost of your actual journey before choosing a home.

  • April bus prices are historical, with the present fare unconfirmed.
  • October taxi and remis charges separate the initial meter charge from each meter unit.
  • The tourism directory includes the Chapelco airport and terrestrial transport contacts.
  • Resident licensing needs a separate check from visitor permit rules.

The ordinance also requires agreed fares before remis trips beyond the municipal boundary. Its remis paragraph gives a 20 percent reduction for trips to Chacra 28, 30, 32 and Kaleuche within the municipal boundary. Ask the operator how the rule applies to your trip. Do not apply that paragraph to every taxi journey.1

Find the actual service

The municipal tourism directory lists the airport at RN 40 kilometer 2232 and terrestrial operators at the Villegas and Juez del Valle terminal area. Check the selected operator for the current destination, boarding point, baggage and schedule. A directory entry does not confirm a departure.4

Driving as a visitor

Argentina visitor guidance gives an international permit under the Inter-American convention one year from issuance. National licenses from Geneva or Vienna contracting states allow a maximum of one year from entry. Confirm the rules for your own license and visitor status. If you become a resident, check the resident-license procedure separately.2

Questions people ask

What should I check before relying on a bus?

Confirm the actual stop, branch, departure and return time, fare and payment method. The retained municipal table applies to April 2026.

What are the October taxi starting charges?

The October 9 ordinance gives $2,622 daytime and $2,898 nighttime as initial meter charges. Meter units add to them, so these are not total journey prices.

When is the nighttime meter-unit rate used?

The ordinance gives 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the nighttime meter unit. Ask the operator about your route and any agreed fare outside town.

Where can I find airport and intercity contacts?

Use the municipal tourism transport directory, then check directly with the chosen operator for a current service and boarding point.

Can I use visitor permit rules after settling in Argentina?

Do not assume that. Visitor permit rules and resident licensing are separate. Ask the relevant authority about your status and license.
