Pensionado and rentista residence

Ley 25.871 Article 23(c) covers qualifying regular permanent pension income. Article 23(b) covers qualifying passive income from assets abroad, excluding remuneration for personal work. Ask DNM which category fits your income and documents.^1,2

DNM Disposición 3446/2023 uses five minimum wages for the stated thresholds and removes the earlier each-family-applicant wording. From October 1, 2026, the monthly minimum wage is US$257.88 (ARS 391,200). Five wages equal US$1,289.39 (ARS 1,956,000). This is an immigration threshold, not a Salta living-cost estimate. Confirm current application and transfer requirements.^3,5,7

Dollar equivalents use ARS 1,517 per U.S. dollar, the BCRA quotation dated October 9, 2026. Your bank, card or cash exchange rate may differ.⁷

Provincial care and payment

Salta Law 8421 Article 2 gives permanent and temporary foreign residents provincial public healthcare under the same conditions as nationals. Articles 3 to 5 protect emergency access for transitory or precaria residents, while allowing later cost recovery. Nonurgent care for those categories requires insurance or direct payment. Article 7 provides for tariffs to be disclosed on request. Ask the hospital how it classifies your documents and what you or your insurer must pay.⁴

What should I inspect in an ordinary rental home?

Check the complete entrance, stairs, doors, bathroom and equipment space. Try the journeys to care and shops with the assistance you normally use.

Can I assume regular care is free?

Ask the hospital and insurer about your treatment, documents and charges. Salta Law 8421 distinguishes permanent and temporary foreign residents from transitory or precaria categories. Emergency access and possible billing remain separate.
