The short answer

Confirm your treatment, registration, coverage and payment, then inspect the actual home and daily journeys. Separately, check whether your regular pension or qualifying passive income meets the appropriate residence category.

- Check the correct income and residence category.
Put regular care and home access first
Pensionado and rentista requirements
Ley 25.871 Article 23(c) covers qualifying regular permanent pension income. Article 23(b) covers qualifying passive income from assets abroad, excluding remuneration for personal work. Ask DNM which category fits your income and documents.1,
DNM Disposición 3446/2023 uses five minimum wages for these thresholds and removes the earlier each-family-applicant wording. The October 1, 2026 monthly minimum wage is US$257.88 (ARS 391,200). Five wages equal US$1,289.39 (ARS 1,956,000). This is an immigration threshold, not a Pilar household budget. Confirm the current application and transfer requirements.3,
Dollar amounts use ARS 1,517 per U.S. dollar, the BCRA quotation dated October 9, 2026. Bank, card and cash exchange rates can differ.6

Questions people ask
Is the residence income threshold a living-cost estimate?
No. Five minimum wages is the stated immigration threshold. Price the home, bills, treatment, insurance and daily needs separately.
How should I assess an ordinary rental for later-life needs?
Inspect entrances, any elevator, bathroom layout, bedroom space and daily journeys with your equipment. The room count alone is not an access assessment.
What should I ask about regular treatment?
Ask the hospital or insurer about current appointments, medicines, registration, network coverage and payment for your circumstances before moving.
