Salta and regional fares

AMT Resolution 243/26 lists the Salta to Cafayate one-way intercity fare at US$22.31 (ARS 33,847), effective September 1, 2026. It names Derudder Hnos. This amount does not price a local town bus, airport transfer, return journey or child ticket. Confirm the actual travel date and seat with the operator.1,2

The same September AMT annex lists named intercity fares from Cafayate. AnimanΓ‘ is US$1.61 (ARS 2,439), El Barrial US$2.15 (ARS 3,254), San Carlos US$2.66 (ARS 4,031), and Angastaco US$8.66 (ARS 13,141). These are distinct routes. Check direction, timetable, concessions and ticket availability separately from the fare table.1,2

October schedules and special dates

AMT's October 1 to 31, 2026 timetable includes a Salta departure at 6:50 a.m. arriving Cafayate at 10:50 a.m. A Cafayate departure at 11:30 a.m. reaches Salta at 3:20 p.m. These examples take four hours and three hours fifty minutes. Special rows apply October 9, 12 and 13. Use the row for the actual travel date.3

The San Carlos timetable has weekday variants. A Monday example leaves Cafayate at 1:10 p.m. and arrives at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday to Friday examples leave at 1 p.m. and arrive at 1:30 p.m. Ordinary valid ranges exclude October 12. El Barrial has distinct stops and timing. Do not transfer these examples to a different day or destination.4

The October Angastaco table gives ordinary valid ranges October 1 to 11 and 13 to 31. Its Monday to Saturday example leaves Cafayate at 11:30 a.m. and arrives at 2:20 p.m. The return example leaves at 5:30 a.m. and arrives at 7:35 a.m. October 12 has a separate 9 p.m. departure. A blank Sunday row does not establish that every transport option is absent.5

Ask about town and airport transport

Cafayate town bus fares, taxi tariffs, a direct airport connection and the airport-to-terminal transfer price remain unconfirmed. A departure from Salta city does not include the airport transfer. Ask about every part of the journey, luggage and the return, allowing for the intercity timetable on your travel date.

Check visitor driving documents

Published Argentina government guidance from 2023 describes convention-dependent visitor license recognition. Its Washington international-permit clock runs from issuance, while qualifying Geneva or Vienna national-license recognition has a maximum of one year from entry. Confirm current Salta and rental-operator acceptance for the actual nationality, document and residence situation.6

Arrange access and pet carriage

No complete independent access assessment covered a home, street, school, workspace or bus journey in Cafayate. Check entrances, curbs, seating and bathrooms along the route you will use. A venue's facilities do not settle access to its door. Ask the operator about the coach and transfers before booking.

Current veterinary appointments, emergency hours, treatment prices and intercity pet-carriage policies remain unconfirmed. Arrange a local care contact and ask the transport operator about the specific animal and departure before arrival. Confirm rental permission separately; national entry documents do not override a landlord or coach restriction.
