Viedma relocation guide

Moving to Viedma with pets

Settle the animal's home, travel and care arrangements separately. Municipal campaign announcements have dates, while SENASA documents follow their own entry timetable.

The short answer

Tell the owner which animal will live in the home and put permission in the agreement. Inspect the space and boundaries, then ask each transport operator about handling and booking. Arrange regular veterinary care before moving. If entering Argentina with a dog or cat, prepare SENASA's documents around the travel date and ask the municipality for its current animal-care campaign calendar.

  • Get written permission for the actual animal.
  • Confirm each carrier's booking and handling rules.
  • Prepare SENASA documents with their own dates.

Arrange a usable home and care routine

Dogs and cats entering Argentina

SENASA requires the applicable veterinary entry documentation, including the international veterinary certificate or accepted passport arrangements and required health and rabies information. Check the animal's age, origin and travel date with SENASA and the issuing veterinarian.1

The health certificate must be issued within ten days before CVI issuance. Internal and external antiparasitic treatment must fall within fifteen days before CVI issuance or official passport endorsement. A first rabies vaccination must precede entry by at least twenty-one days. Have the veterinarian confirm the animal-specific timetable.1

Check the current municipal campaign

The municipality's January 30, 2024 notice describes neighborhood castration and rabies-vaccination campaigns at temporary February 2024 venues. Those dates have passed. Ask for the current calendar, location, appointment process and veterinary preparation instructions before attending. Arrange ongoing care separately from a campaign.2

Confirm the animal's actual journey

The municipal tourism directory lists boat, bus and taxi contacts, while Tren Patagónico lists its own booking contact. Ask the operator about your animal and journey directly. The general passenger listings here do not establish pet permission.3,4

Keep the permission with the rental agreement and the carrier confirmation with the travel booking. For a coastal home, plan the animal's ordinary care and city trips as part of the El Cóndor routine.

Questions people ask

Does a SENASA entry document guarantee a place on a bus or train?

Confirm the carrier's rules separately. Entry documents do not establish the operator's handling, crate, booking or pet-permission conditions.

Can I attend the municipal campaign at a venue from the 2024 notice?

Those published dates have passed. Ask the municipality for the current venue, appointment process and veterinary instructions.

Can one travel date settle all veterinary document dates?

SENASA requirements use distinct dates for examinations, treatment, rabies and certificate arrangements. Confirm the full timetable with the issuing veterinarian.

Does a rental's outdoor space establish pet permission?

Get written permission for your animal before paying, including restrictions or additional conditions. Inspect gates, boundaries and the actual space.
