El Calafate relocation guide

Utilities in El Calafate

Request the home's winter bills before signing. A gas tariff and an advertised internet plan cannot tell you the complete household bill.

The short answer

Utilities in El Calafate need checking at the property. Distrigas publishes October 2026 Santa Cruz Sur gas tariffs before taxes, but the chosen home's category, connection and consumption determine its bill. Cotecal advertises internet bundles with installation installments and minimum terms. Electricity, water and a complete winter heating bill are not priced here.

Ask for winter and summer bills from the actual home.
The gas table is effective October 1, 2026, for Santa Cruz Sur, before taxes.
Cotecal's selected bundles advertise six installation installments and a 12-month minimum for new customers.

Check the property before the tariff

Ask how each room is heated and which accounts you must open.
Request recent bills and check the service address, tariff category, consumption and taxes.
Inspect doors, windows, ventilation and hot water.
Have a qualified professional check gas equipment and explain its safe use.
Ask who pays account transfers, installation, insurance and outstanding charges.

What the gas tariff actually prices

Santa Cruz Sur residential gas components, effective October 1, 2026
Component	Regular tariff	Reduced tariff
R1 monthly fixed charge	US$10.69ARS 16,220.68	US$5.35ARS 8,110.34
Level 1 consumption charge per m³	US$0.13291ARS 201.62	US$0.06645ARS 100.81

Distrigas table, before taxes. The reduced column is called the differential tariff. R1 covers annual use up to 4,300 m³. The consumption figures shown are Level 1. Ask Distrigas which category, zone and reduced-rate eligibility apply to your home. Your bill also depends on consumption and other charges.

Ask Distrigas which category and tariff apply to your service address. Do not calculate a winter household total without the property's consumption and full charges.^5,6,13

The September 28, 2026 provincial report described a Cerro Castillo gas-network tender covering eight blocks. It described proposed work, not a completed connection for every home.^12,13

Changing the gas account holder

Distrigas lists an in-person account-holder change. Its requirements include identity and CUIL, plus a lease, title or other occupancy documentation. Ask the office which documents fit your situation before attending.²

Confirm with the landlord which accounts remain in the owner's name, which you must transfer and who pays outstanding charges. Keep those answers with the lease and moving-in terms.^{7,10,14,15,16}

Heating and winter planning

Distrigas warns against heating a room with the oven or stove burners. Keep ventilation clear and arrange a qualified installation check. Follow the operator's safety instructions for the equipment in the home.³

El Calafate Aero's July mean is 0.6°C (33.1°F) for 2001 to 2020. See monthly weather averages when choosing clothing and housing, then use your own monthly budget to include the actual bills.¹

Questions people ask

How much will I spend on heating each month?

A complete bill is not priced here. Request winter bills for the chosen home and check its heating, gas connection, category and consumption. Taxes and other charges also matter.

Can my home use the reduced gas tariff?

Distrigas publishes regular and reduced tariffs, but the home's eligibility is not confirmed here. Ask which category, zone and conditions apply before using the reduced rate in your budget.

Is the Cerro Castillo gas work complete?

The September 28, 2026 report describes a tender for proposed network work. Ask about the exact property's connection rather than treating that announcement as completion.

What documents does Distrigas ask for?

Its account-holder-change page lists identity and CUIL plus lease, title or other occupancy documents, with an in-person process. Confirm the documents accepted for your situation.

Does Cotecal's advertised price include every charge?

The cards describe final prices, while the FTTH contract separately discusses net charges, taxes and ONT replacement insurance. Request one written total for your address and ask the operator to explain any difference.

Which internet speed should I expect from the home card?

Its heading says 75MB and its body says 300MB. Ask Cotecal to resolve that conflict in the quote. Do not choose a speed by guessing which label is current.
