SEMEC publishes Rua Nossa Senhora Aparecida 829, apartments 2 and 3, Centro, +55 67 3255 3235. Citizen hours are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Ask which school or early-childhood center should handle the application.¹

The December 5, 2025 municipal notice places new preschool and fundamental enrollment on January 23 to 30, 2026. Those dates have passed. Edital 017/2025, sections 4.2.3 and 7.7, also addresses transfers and vacancies during the school year. Ask about your actual arrival date.^2,3

Ask about foreign records and specific exceptions

The notices list birth records, vaccination information, current address, parent identification and applicable health or guardianship documents. Ask SEMEC how it accepts foreign identification, previous studies and any translations. The general document list does not answer every foreign-record question.^3,4

Sections 5.6 and 5.7 expressly address enrollment without a birth certificate and enrollment and attendance while school history or transfer records are missing. They provide a 15-day period for the transfer documents and referral to Conselho Tutelar if needed. Ask the school how these provisions apply to the child's records.^3,4

Confirm Portuguese support, the teaching language, age and grade placement, meals, collection, special support and every applicable fee with the actual school.
